Many of our members may be wondering exactly what
happened to GrandLake over the
last few weeks. The clarity of the water improved markedly
when the Bureau of Reclamation and Northern Colorado Water
Conservancy district stopped pumping from August 13 through August
26.When pumping resumed on the 27th,
there was an immediate degradation of clarity as water of much
poorer transparency began flowing into GrandLake. The following bar charts below shows clarity as
measured at two sites on GrandLake,
with the solid line showing the daily average flow through the Adams
Tunnel.Clarity improved 3 feet during the short stop-pump
period, but immediately fell again as pumping resumed. The water quality issues that we face from
continued pumping of Colorado-Big Thompson water are quite apparent
and alarming.

Below is a
youtube.com video John Stahl made shortly after pumping was resumed
following the two week reprieve.
